The Learning Refuge is a volunteer-run community Centre based in Paphos, Cyprus , with a core mission “to keep planting seeds of goodness and beauty so that we can teach children and adults to truly live together.” Although relatively small in scale, it plays a vital role in the local ecosystem of refugee and asylum-seeker support, particularly for immigrant women and their families, who face multiple challenges related to integration, social inclusion, and empowerment.
The organisation provides material and educational support by assisting families with essential items such as food, clothing, children’s supplies, and furniture. Alongside these services, it organises family-oriented workshops and informal educational activities, which not only help to meet immediate needs but also foster resilience and a sense of belonging. For immigrant and refugee women, access to such support reduces isolation, provides stability, and opens pathways toward personal development.
