Across Europe, thousands of young migrants are trying to find their place learning new systems, building new networks, and navigating unfamiliar job markets. UNITY EUROPE set out to make that journey easier and more empowering.
And it worked.
After months of hands-on testing with young people and youth professionals, one thing became clear: when learning is practical, inclusive, and connected to real life, it creates real change.
More than 130 participants across Cyprus, France, Spain, and Türkiye took part in the project’s pilot phase. What they gained went beyond skills.
“I used to think social media was just for chatting,” said a participant in Spain. “Now I use it to search for jobs and present myself professionally.”
Others described something even more fundamental a shift in confidence.
“At first, I wasn’t comfortable with digital tools,” shared a participant. “Now I feel independent. I can actually use them in my daily life.”
UNITY EUROPE didn’t rely on traditional teaching methods. Instead, it focused on practical situations young people face every day—finding a job, communicating in a new environment, understanding rights, or simply feeling heard.
Through an open online platform and an interactive card game, participants explored these topics in a way that felt natural and engaging.
“The card game changed everything,” explained a youth worker. “Even the quietest participants started speaking. It created trust.”
In France, trainers working with displaced youth saw a similar effect:
“Before thinking about employment, many young people need confidence. This project gives them that starting point.”
The progress wasn’t just visible it was tangible:
What stands out is not just what participants learned, but how quickly they began applying it.
For many participants, the biggest outcome wasn’t technical it was personal.
Feeling more confident.
Speaking up more.
Understanding where they fit in their new environment.
“These tools don’t just teach,” one partner noted. “They open conversations, build confidence, and create connection.”
While the project has officially ended, its impact continues.
All tools remain freely accessible online, giving young people, educators, and organisations across Europe the opportunity to keep using—and building on—what UNITY EUROPE started.
Because integration is not just about access to resources.
It’s about having the confidence and tools to use them.
And when that happens, young people don’t just adapt they move forward.
